At Mont Architects, we know that building a great house can be a challenging journey without the right expertise. We have travelled that path enough times that we understand the big picture, how to navigate to the best outcome and how to make your journey a rewarding experience.

Anita established northern beaches-based Mont Architects in 2023 after over 25 years delivering to the high-end market working with Corben Architects, Watershed Architects, and a variety of other small practices. At Mont, we want to bring that experience and capability to more people with a focus on making homes functional and beautiful.

Our work is rooted in practicality and longevity, with a strong focus on how you want to live now and into the future. Our emphasis is on creating beautiful spaces that are a reflection of your life style whilst maximising the potential of each site and adding real market value to your home.

With our visualisation, we will meticulously guide you through the process, focusing on crafting those special spaces that are thoughtfully planned and executed from start to finish. Our process, combined with our unique skills, will ensure your master plan remains in sight for the duration of your journey.

Our portfolio encompasses a range of residential architecture and interiors, from custom-designed new homes to renovations and apartment refurbishments.

Anita Kane - Director

  • 'Anita Kane was the architect who brought about the transformation of my now delightful onebedroom apartment in Manly. Working with the interiors only, she worked her magic and achieved all the practical results I was seeking, storage, better spatial configuration and more workable updated kitchen and bathroom plus an aesthetic make over. However, it was her eye for design, the bespoke joinery plans, and details, down to choices of taps, handles and colour combinations, cupboards placement, curtain blinds and floor, that made the result exquisite. It all worked to create a lovely livable space. Anita was a delight to work with and proved skillful dealing with builders and tradesman, getting the best from them; so important to the smooth running of a project. The preliminary discussions which included compliance requirements and boring paperwork was all handled by Anita painlessly. If I do this again, and I might, I would have no hesitation in asking Anita to work with me and happy to recommend to others, you would not be disappointed.'

  • 'Thanks to Anita who turned an unusual area into a free flowing modern space. With not much of a brief from us, her ideas and creativity have given us a home we could never quite have imagined. She has an amazing attention to detail and her collaboration with our builder was second to none. Thanks so much for everything you did, we are very happy clients.'

  • 'As a client, I had a number of demanding requirements for the design brief. I wanted to leverage the extensive ceiling heights to overcome the limited floor area. I wanted to see rooms serve multiple purposes depending on the context and the function that needed to be served at the time. ‘What a result! Every corner has been utilised. Anita created a guest room with a pull down wall bed, that, when tucked away acted as a study, an extended living room or a play area for the children. The clever use of a window at the desk has made working there a joy. A massive sliding 250kg ‘wall’ allows the room to be opened or closed depending on the need at the time. It creates a cosy space when closed and allowed the afternoon sunlight to flood in when it is opened. ‘The living room has a wonderful mix of modernity with a respectful reflection to the early 1900’s with an exquisite, exposed brick wall. The joinery contains a retractable TV that when put away provides a green aspect to the garden area and delivers much needed reflected light to a south facing unit. Joinery for the piano keyboard allows for music lessons to be held and then tucked out of the way when unused. ‘The island bench and kitchen – such a joy to use. A place for everything and everything in its place. ‘I love all the joinery, storage and wonderful aesthetic provided by Anita’s clever designs, foresight and understanding. She exceeded the brief and turned a small, outdated unit into a new pragmatic, useable, beautiful reality. ‘Anita has the experience, eye for detail and a practical creativity that will be difficult to match.'

  • 'We worked with Anita for two years to design a 5 bedroom home in Fairlight with views over Sydney harbour. We were very pleased with Anita's involvement with the DA approval process, and while the DA had view impacts on neighbouring properties, we felt that Anita communicated with all parties harmoniously to achieve favourable outcomes for everyone involved. We were drawn to work with Anita because we felt she understood our family dynamic and was able to advise us on an optimal design and layout while maximising view impact and saleability. Anita also has a great network of contacts that she helped introduce us to for lots of remedial work that we carried out on our property.'

  • 'We have had a great experience working with Anita on the designs for our home. In particular, she was able to create an amazing space in our kitchen, dining, and outdoor entertainment area. With her keen eye and ability to make the most of the space we had available, we now have a spectacular kitchen that opens out to a deck, where the entire space can be taken in from all angles. It was something we had not considered but with Anita's ability to visualise the space, we now have a beautiful space for our family to enjoy. Anita has also created three different design options for a planned granny flat. All three options are stunning and utilise the space we have available in different ways. We have been able to see how these designs will come to life via a fly - around video Anita created for us. We are so happy with the final results and recommend her highly to anyone needing creativity and the ability to think outside the box.'
